Cactus, Succulents, & Palm Trees; everyone’s summer obsession. Palm Springs has been Instagram’s trendiest places to be, and the need to find photo ops with these plants have been in high demand. I have been wanting to visit Palm Springs for some time now, but haven’t had the chance and I’ve been itching to take some desert inspired photos. Well, now I don’t have to fly to Palm Springs to do so. After seeing some of my blogger gals posting photos and tagged this Cactus Garden located in Palo Alto, I had to check this place out!
This place is such a hidden find! I am surprised I haven’t discovered this garden sooner since I have visited Palo Alto many times. If you plan on visiting, I recommend going during sunrise or sunset. The garden is located on Stanford’s campus, so its open 24/7. There are multiple parking lots; some lots you have to pay hourly but if you come on the weekend parking is usually free. It’s a 5 mins walk from the closest parking lot. If you park at the Stanford Shopping Center it’s about a 15 min walk. When we arrived, there were a family and engagement photos being taken. With that said, plan to get here early or just wait it out to take the perfect photos.
Since it’s a Cactus/Desert garden having the right shoes is a must. I wouldn’t recommend wearing flip flops since there are loose dirt and possible cactus spikes on the ground. A flat/closed toe shoe is recommended because it can be a bit of a walk to get there depending on when you park. These shoes from Sutro Footwear are perfect for walking around all day. During the summer season, I live in rompers. For being a petite blogger (where all my 5’2 babes at?) rompers are soo easy to throw on and walk out the door. Most people that are taller, usually shy away from rompers because they tend to run too short on longer legs. For us petite gals, they are the perfect length. I’ll link a similar romper here.
